About

youryongestreet is an interactive online exhibit of people, places and events along the world’s longest street. It brings together stories, documents, maps, photographs, oral histories, and videos to create a living history.

The site is developed by Toronto Public Library to engage Torontonians in the history of their city, and invite them to share their personal insights, experiences and memories. The library is offering ongoing programming and maintains a reading list of books history and fiction books about Yonge Street.

The site enables people to browse the content by subject (tag) or by following along the map of Yonge Street all the way from Lake Ontario to Rainy River. You can comment on pictures and stories, add to the memory bank, and share content using social media.

To contribute your memories of Yonge Street follow the simple instructions on the ‘contribute an item’ link, and upload your pictures, stories, videos and audio files. Don’t forget to add a flag on the map, so your picture or story can be placed in context.

Any items which are contributed may be added to the Library’s Digital Archive. Please see the terms of use for further information.
