The day the sewers backed up
Dublin Core
Title
The day the sewers backed up
Description
This is my favourite Yonge and Gerrard Story.
My father was a mechanic at Gorrie's car dealership which was where 40 Gerrard St. apts. are across from Ryerson Theatre in the 20's. A number of mechanics were just pouring only oil down the sewer.
This came back to haunt them when one day it all backed up and covered the intersection of Yonge and Gerrard and caused total havoc as cars slid everywhere and pedestrians were falling down in the mess. (somewhere in newspaper archives there must be pictures)
