The 1960s saw societal changes around the world and significant changes in library service in Weston.

During the summer of 1962, Weston Public Library closed for renovations planned by Dunlop, Wardell, Matsui, Aitken, Architects. The library reopened in September with a redesigned foyer and circulation desk; in the main room a suspended acoustic ceiling covered the original wooden one and fluorescent lights replaced older fixtures.

Bigger changes came in 1967. On January 1, after more than seven decades of operation, Weston Public Library Board ceased and was taken over by the York Public Library Board at the same time as the Town of Weston and the Township of York were amalgamated as the Borough of York. The library became Weston Branch, York Public Library.
