M is for miniatures

Nearly every type of book has a miniature representative!

From fact books through fiction, rhymes, picture books and movables, the library’s Special Collections contain miniature books dating from 1780 to the present day.

Visit the exhibit in person to see examples from our collections including a selection of Mighty Midget Books (New York: Merrimack Pub. Corp., ca. 1939-1954). This series of miniature books was designed to be carried by the children of London in to air-raid shelters during World War II.
