David Birkan

David Birkan - Portrait

David Birkan takes us down memory lane as he recalls the many class visits to the Boys and Girls House, with the librarians reading to them, as they sat cross-legged. Although David doesn't frequent the library as often now, he tells us that these visits were pivotal in sparking his love of books and reading which have remained with him since childhood. Esentially, the Boys and Girls House was his "school away from school."

"The thing I would like to start with is the word magic. Because that's what it felt like when I first went to the library, specifically the Boys and Girls House."

"The library has started me off on many imaginative journeys and my love for books."
